Every seed company I have dealt with has had 80,000 kernals in a bag for about forty years. At one time, they sold it as 56# in a bushel, regardless of size and it could range from about 50,000 to 120,000 seeds in a bushel, depending on the size and test weight of the seed.
Years ago, we generally got around 3 acres per bag, planting at around 25,000 plants per acre. With the newer hybrids and GMO types, we're pushing toward 30-35,000 ppa. So, we're only getting about 2 1/2 acres per bag.
As a side note, I had one hybrid this past year that weighed 62# for 80,000, and another that was only 47#.
