SURE, depending on quality and design, they can work, they can keep a battery topped off which is always a good thing as sitting there in a state of discharge can contribute to sulfation on the plates.
Even a perfectly good battery with absolutely no load attached whatsoever eventually runs down due to its chemistry and a maintainer can prevent that.
But if you are starting a vehicle once a week and all else is okay, THERES NOT MUCH NEED FOR A BATTERY MAINTAINER. They are more for if it sets there a long period.
What brand you ask??? I've seen so many stories where one person had good luck yet another person has the same brand fail, I just hesitate to offer an endorsement.
