Most little room electric heaters are 1500 watts to limit the current such that a 15 amp breaker will hold with it and the lights and all that are usually in bedrooms. A gas heater for the same application runs around 5200 BTU.
The conversion is 3410 BTU/kWHr so 1500w run for an hour is 1.5kWHr x 3410 is right at 5110 BTU. So you get the same heat regardless of the heat source.
Personally, in a closed room like a bedroom, my preference is the oil radiator heater which is 1500W max and sells for about $50 at the big box stores. No fumes, no fire, no noise, just pleasant radiant heat.
For my shop, if I am working at the bench and sitting, I have a little radiant heater with a fan I put on the floor between my legs and it keeps my legs and chest warm plus I breath the clean warm air. If moving about I have a 50# Propane tank on a furniture dolly that has a radiant heater that mounts to the tank in 5, 10, or 15k BTU so it goes with me. If really want to warm the area I have a 30k BTU blower (looks and sounds like a jet engine) that I hook to that tank with a fan.
If I lived up North and had an insulated shop running a big operation I would have whole building heat. But I don't have any of that and just heat where I need it.

Today's Featured Article - 12-Volt Conversions for 4-Cylinder Ford 2000 & 4000 Tractors - by Tommy Duvall. After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
