Seems to me the cheap compressors are sized by some deceptively high motor horsepower rating but they don't mention CFM's. The good quality ones are more likely to be advertised by CFM's. If you can afford it 17 to 20 CFM's two stage with a cast iron pump will last you many years. It will be a true 5 HP and need 30 amp 220 service for dependable power. If you decide to do limited sandblasting sometime in the future 20 CFM's will let you blast away for five or ten minutes with a smaller nozzle and it will run most common air tools for as long as you want to use them.
