The 270 in a synthetic stock will kick harder than it should but certainly manageable. I have the Model 110 and 11 in 30-06 and .308 respectively and both rifles have had to have their rings replaced. The Savage rings are junk. This may be why you are getting such a good price on the rifle. I am a big fan of the Savage rifle and like the previous poster said, the accu trigger is a real dream. I would buy another and at 250 I wouldn't blink. Leopoldo STD rings (low) are on both of mine now, btw. Aaron
