Our CIH dealer is on one end of town, we had a NH dealer mid town and the local Ford dealer started a K dealership on the other end of town out past the JD dealer. Through an internal family fracas, the NH dealer fired it's manager who was immediately scooped up by the new K dealer. The NH dealer ends up closing up shop within a year and the CIH dealer and the K dealer both go after the open NH spot on the map. CIH dealer claimed they automatically would win out since NH and CIH are parts of CNH so K has no chance. K said they'd get the NH based on their ex NH manager and his knowledge of the line and parts, his contacts with customers and his relationship with NH at the corporate level. K won out the battle and has NH and K selling side by side now, but without the old NH manager. They ended up dumping him off just like NH did, for more than just what took place on the sales floor.
If CNH was serious about keeping K off their lots, I can't see where CNH would have given the NH to the K dealer.
