Well guys all I know from mounting a few hundred loaders is that the JD 4640s used a different bracket than the narrower frame loaders. I never mounted a 148-168 new but have mounted may 265 720, and 740 loaders. They all called for a different bracket for the 4640 then the smaller tractors.
Moline guy measure the distance across the frame rails and then compare it. It is possible that the mast on the newer loaders was different because of the wider fuel tank. The older brackets did mount lower so they MAY fit since they did not extend up over the frame rails much.
IF all else fails you can make it fit with a torch and welder.
