The electronics and plastic on new stuff made today will make keeping it long term tough. It is designed to be a throw away item.
Companies are not making the next JD 4020 or IH 806 today. They last too long for the company to sell you another new one.

You are seeing that right now in the tractor world. Not many younger people looking at 70 year old stuff, more looking at 40 year old stuff.
As for building "new" old tractors. The cost would be above what the guys wanting an old style tractor would/could pay. There was not any laws that made the IH 806 or JD 4020 be replaced. It was market demands for better features. An example of this would be better cabs.
