There is nothing to clean out, ether evaporates almost immediately so that's not the problem.
If used improperly it can cause damage. I've heard of it breaking ring lands, washing down cylinders, breaking starters, etc. If no damage was done, nothing to repair.
Finding out why it needs ether would be the first priority.
