: Although not a vintage machine, I have read the postings here and feel that there are some wise folks out there who may have some insight into my tractor problem. : Yesterday, after having operating for an hour with no apparent problems, my Case 1390 Tractor(independent PTO) stuck in second gear. The tractor will operate normally and runs well. I am able to dis-engage the transmission with the clutch pedal, no problem there. Upon engaging the clutch, it takes off in second gear as if there were no apparent change in operation. However, cannot move the gear shift lever out of the 2nd gear slot. It's just stuck and no amount of reasonable force will free it. : This machine has the independent PTO, and for what it's worth, it engages and dis-engages without a problem. Also able to chagne the PTO-ranges with no problem. : Suggestions??? Please help out if you have any ideas. I have a Massey Ferguson 165 that on very rare occasions will not come out of gear because one of the shifter rails didn't quite get into the center detent position and the interlock will not let the other shift rail move. I just open the screw on oil filler cap so I can see the shift rails and gearshift lower tip then with a clean large screw driver I just line up the neutral gates. I know this sounds a little jury rigged but it only happens about once a year. good luck. :-)
