From my earlier post: Tonight when driving home my brakes failed on my 1990 Dodge Ram 250 diesel. My pedal became extremely hard, braking dropped off to almost nothing, and the "brake" and "anti lock" warning lights came on. Fluid levels are fine. Any thoughts are appreciated.
I pulled the vacuum line from the booster. I did not have a vacuum gauge handy but put my thumb over the line with the engine running and could not feel anything, I put the tube against my cheek and could feel only the slightest of pulls. With the engine off, I gently blew on the line and heard a kazoo like sound, hence I agree, it is probably the booster pump. Also, the fluid level in the power steering was low, but not so low as to cause steering issues or even a noise.
