: I have a JD 40, 6 volt, positive ground, that I would : like to convert to 12 volt. Would anyone have instructions : or pointers they could share with me on doing so? I am not : using lights presently if that makes a difference. Jim - If you don't have lights, all you need to do is add a ballast resistor in series with the coil primary (to reduce 12 volts to 6 at the coil). Use a Chrysler resistor (purchase at any auto parts store). Also need to reverse the primary connections on the coil, and reverse the wires connected to the ammeter. The starter doesn't care about polarity - it'll work fine on 12v neg ground. Are you going to install a 12v alternator or ??? to charge the battery?? Bob M
