KEH, I had an uncle that picked a bale of cotton by himself one day. We always considered a bale to be 500 pounds.
Many years ago, there was a gin about 7 miles south of here that caught fire. When people showed up, there was an old woman that worked there dragging bales out to the loading dock. I was told that she was a small woman that was a former slave. Had to be about 1900 or before.
