How do you know the pedestal came off an 8000? Do you have any pictures?
If it is a real 8000 pedestal it will be one piece. If it is from a 5200/7200 then the pedestal has an adapter plate on it like this.
The best thing to do is find a narrow front from a Farmall H, or from a Ford 900/901, or any of the row crop tractors, and have an adapter plate built at a machine shop to match the tractor. I will have to look, but I thought the 8700 and 8000 steering was the same. It will be a lot easier to modify the pedestal adapter, than to do anything else. Then, if what you have really is an 8000 narrow front, being as rare as it is, you should have no problem getting a VERY good price for it in the classifieds.
