When my brother was alive he owned a ranch in Colorado and after a couple encounters with bears where we used a live trap that was provided by the DNR and then they would relocate the bear and then bring the trap back to us. Generally the bear would be back before the DNR boys would get the trap back. Standard operating procedure after that was when we saw a bear he would go get a rifle and I would get the back hoe. Their is nothing that I can think of that will make the wives more nervous than a bear tearing the screens off the windows in the middle of the night trying to get in the house.
