Yes sir and from that day until GM stopped production of that version of the SBC,the rear main leaked on EVERY one!The single biggest reason there is so many around is because 1) they are dirt cheap and 2)parts,both standard and hop up, are also cheap and plentiful.
The reason they are used in classic hot rods is because of the distributor being in the back end of the engine thus the oil pan sump is also at the back of the engine and dosen't interfere with front suspension pieces.
Nonetheless,I'll be the first to admit it's a pretty fair engine.

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
