Today in 1944 a greatful and hopeful America conferred the first of 5 stars on it's greatest generals and admirals who were then driving the enemy back to their own borders. Dec. 15th William Leahy - Fleet Admiral Dec. 16th George Marshall - General of the Army Dec. 17th Ernest King - Fleet Admiral Dec. 18th Douglas MacArthr - General of the Army Dec. 19th Chester Nimitz - Fleet Admiral Dec. 20th Dwight Eisenhower - General of the Army Dec. 21st Henery (Hap) Arnold General of the Army Air Force Bill Halsey will get his 5th star a year from now and Omar Bradly in 1950.
Never before had an American been given this rank. But never before had an American fought a war of this scope and magnitude either. Those guys, all of them, have always been my heros. Read a book about any of them and you will find a man who was both decent and fair in peace time, yet brilliant and hard driving in war. Give a thought to these fellows this week on the 70th anniversary of their gaining the highest rank in our military's history.

Today's Featured Article - Earthmaster Project Progress Just a little update on my Earthmaster......it's back from the dead! I pulled the head, and soaked the stuck valves with mystery oil overnight, re-installed the head, and bingo, the compression returned. But alas, my carb foiled me again, it would fire a second then flood out.
