but on old stuff/houses aren't you also supposed to ground the chassis of washers and dryers to a water pipe, in addition to the 3-prong plug?
I'd have to look, but I think my newer washer had a green screw on the back cover that I used for that.
(got rid of those electric dryers, ranges, years ago. never liked even the 'idea' of em)
I remember growing up in a shack with a wet basement, where my father tied everything down there to water pipes.
And us kids were under strict orders not to touch anything running down there, when tending the coal or using the sump pit 'wintertime, number 1, not have to dress for the outhouse, bathroom'
