Sounds like an orange head.....right? I"ve changed them in the snow, laying underneath the head, and it"s no fun. Simpler to take the head off, use a loader to tip it up on its back side so the snouts are in the air. Makes gravity work WITH you, instead of against. I reach the loader over the head from the rear, and tip it back. Wrap the chain around two front frame members.
Easy to get at all the bolts- may have to take both rolls out as a unit by removing the bolts in the common casting. Those rolls are very specific to location in the head...some, but not all, are the same. Remember that when finding a replacement.
If you"re talking a black A430...I"d take the drives off, then unit clamps off and repair on the bench.
