Wife and I get our health insurance thru her employer (university). Pretty good PPO, our docs are all in network. Costs us $450/month. I think the university contribution is $800+/month, IIRC. I could get it through my employer but since it's a lot smaller, plans aren't as good and cost is higher. In 2.5 yrs, wife will turn 65 (I'll be 67) and we hope to retire and then do the Medicare thing, with supplemental and Part D. I'm figuring about 300-$500/month for the both of us to be pretty fully covered, based on numbers I see today.
I do think that some people (individuals mostly) have obtained "affordable health care" who couldn't get it before. However, many others have seen their insurance skyrocket, plans cancelled and small companies are finding their policy premiums are doubling and tripling in some cases.
As for external_link, I think the "you ain't seen nothing yet" comment is pretty accurate. Once the health care industry adjusts to the new rules and all those parasites who will be getting subsidized by you and me start using the system, there won't be enough doctors and hospital beds to go around. I know of two doctors who are going to retire early rather than deal with it.

But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo.
