I didn't know Germany sold coal liquidfication tech to S Africa. So it sounds like coal may not be totally dead. It's just not going to be used in the way it has been in the past.
Will it be cheaper to make methyl alcohol using NG or make ethanol with corn? Is methyl better than ethanol?
In 1940 my dad was a fireman on the RR. He said that if they needed to make steam real fast, they would inject steam on the coal. There would be some kind of chemical reaction that caused the coal to burn faster. Never understood that either. I thought the steam would do just the opposite.
