Yes, it is a Ford 4 cylinder engine, seems to run good, it's just the hi-rpm's that worry me. Nevertheless, I am going to spray some tobacco tomorrow (friday). Haven't got it calibrated and the nozzles are not where I want them, but gonna make do for this year (I hope).

: : : : : : I just bought this Hagie 460 and on the trip to my place the drip out of a hole in the bottom of the hydraulic agitator motor turned into a stream of water from the tank. Also the governor seems to want the engine to run wide open. I bought this to finish spraying my tobacco (my old one bit the dust) so I'm kinda under the gun right now and would greatly appreciate any thoughts or opinions. This Hagie is a whole new animal to me a

: I can't help much with the governor. Mine would do

: OK till I turned on the AC then the engine would

: run wild -really scream- I messed with the governor awhile and tried a different one. Then I

: got a diesel motor out of a combine.

: I think those governors get a groove where they

: are used to running and can't go up and down past

: there. Maybe someone good with belt driven governors can help more.

: Is this a Ford engine?

: : : I had oil getting from the orbit motor into spray

: : : tank. I made a pair of bearings with shaft sticking out both ends to transmit power into tank. Had to replace motors.

: : : Do you need mechanical agitation? Could you just

: : : plug holes in tank?

: :

: : You're right DY, I don't really need the agitation, so I'll take care of that. But tell me, is it normal to operate this thing with the engine wide open? I can't tell you how many RPM's but sounds too fast to me. If I slow it down though, then the governor seems to work too much. And just by the way, I think I was wrong in my original post, it is a 470, and not a 460. Thanks

: : : I have fixed about everything on that thing, so I

: : : can answer questions. Keep asking.

: :

: : : :

: : : : It's not leaking between the motor and tank, it's leaking out of a hole on the bottom of the metal ring of the motor that bolts to the tank.

Today's Featured Article - Listening to Your Tractor - by Curtis Von Fange. Years ago there was a TV show about a talking car. Unless you are from another planet, physically or otherwise, I don’t think our internal combustion buddies will talk and tell us their problems. But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo. ... [Read Article]
