Markets seem to go in cycles that are not entirely predictable. We grew corn for decades. When I started corn was $20 a bag and fertilizer was $60 a ton. Got about 80 bushels per acre at about $1.50. Used most of it thru dairy cows. Also, we developed an off farm income that turned out pretty good. Today is a whole different story. Unless you have off farm income to offset any losses and an understanding wife, it would be a tough rode to hoe. I would jump over to Agtalk.com and click on the marketing forum. Read it for a few months. Quite often some guys post charts that are quite enlightning.
