Can't really buy a rusty engine block around here for $200, much less a whole tractor in any shape. So you took advantage of good situations in the past......
Can't sell a basket case tractor for $5000. So that's not a real price either on his part.
I kinda think on this deal you two deserved each other. ;)
Meant with best wishes and a smile, but you have been getting some really good deals - the youth discount. Folks see a young fella with an interest and are pretty much donating their tractor to you. As you progress you will need to get into the real marketplace and pay the going rate for stuff. Maybe closer to $1000 than to $200. He maybe shoulda just said no thanks on your lowball offer, but maybe he was kinda insulted by it and came back a little strong?
Another thought, there are a lot of scammers on the Internet, while you were honest with your age and interest, it might have looked 'fishy' to him like someone was scamming him, and just blew you off. Thinking some fella is trying to take advantage of him with a made up story.... If he honestly felt that way and got taken by Internet scammers in the past, I maybe can understand where he was coming from....
No one got hurt, no big deal. Try again tomorrow on the next opportunity. This one didnt work out, no need to burn any bridges behind you, or worry about it. He likely didnt mean anything, just felt your offer was a waste of his time and a little hurt by it? You need to look at things from his point of view?
