Bryce I don't see where he is that rude to you.
HE could careless about the fact your 16 and have restored other tractors and such. Plus telling him you gave $200 for your JD 40T kind of implies your thinking his is worth that.
Bryce: You need to remember you have been getting "deals" because your 16 and fellows are "helping" you get started.
A JD 40T in a pile will bring $1000-1500 around here, just as a parts tractor. The JD 40S in the picture is not in very bad shape. The rims and tires look pretty good. Sheet metal looks to be fair. That tractor would easily bring $2000-2500 here. Nice restored ones are bring $3500-5000 here. The smaller Dubuque tractors are selling like hot cakes.
I see the guy kind of blowing you off. That is what he is doing telling you he wants $5000 for it. I bet that if I would email him and offer him $2000 he would counter me with some thing lower than the $5000. IF not he is out in lala land and will not get it sold.
If your a seller you don't care about the buyer's life history. In fact telling me your only 16 and have very limited finances would have me discounting you as a serious buyer at all.

After numerous dead ends for a replacement carb, I went to work fixing mine.I soldered new floats on the float arm, they came from an old motorcycle carb, replaced the packing on the throttle shaft with o-rings, cut new ga
