Hal, those things are a life saver. I forgot to put mine on one day last winter, also forgot there was ice under the snow. I fell while clearing the neighbors driveway. It hurt beyond belief, tore my pants, skinned my knee but good, just lucky I did not break something the way I hit that knee cap, it hurt for weeks. I suppose I won't ever forget to wear them again, and it reminds me that the older we get, the more dangerous any kind of impact or fall can be.

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
