Another thing about battery drain I learned just a few years ago. A IH 1586 always came up with dead batteries when left unused for a couple of months. A check on battery drain showed the normal drain of a few milli amps but I just happened to leave my meter hooked up for a couple minutes and bingo. The meter took a jump to several milli amps(don't remember the number, like 70 or 80 maybe). Unhooking the meter and rehooking it did same thing. I traced it down to the data center. Unhooked data center and drain was normal few milli amps. I sent the data center into be tested. They called me and I explained the problem. Had given them a written note with unit. They said they had been running it for like 48 hours and saw no problem. I said, the problem is when it is when tractor is not being run. They sent it back, did the same thing, no explanation just that it was fine. We all know that it is normal for a lot of vehicles with computers to show a considerable drain when first hooking up and then it drops off but this one works just the opposite.
