HANNA — Kenneth Bailey, 78, of rural Hanna, died after he was dragged by his antique farm tractor on his property on South Indiana 39 in LaPorte County, authorities said Wednesday.
His body was discovered Tuesday by his ex-wife after she became concerned that she had not heard from him for two days.
Above is the story that ran a few days ago and below is what the South Bend trib ran today. Real shame. joe
LaPorte County Coroner John Sullivan said evidence indicates Bailey was trying to start the motor by spraying a liquid into the fuel intake when the tractor, apparently in gear, started and ran over Bailey, who then wound up pinned. He was dragged by the tractor about 200 feet before it struck a tree and stopped. However, the tires kept spinning, throwing mud that plugged Bailey’s nostrils and mouth, police said. The body was lodged between the rear tire and a drag box attached to the tractor’s back end, police said.
