What he said.......a limit should not open but for testing the safety so make sure the temp rise is in spec when you are done.
Those crappy camstat style switches are only good for about a dozen cycles.
And as CJ said it IS NOT a fan switch so if you have fan issues you have other problem.
This will stop the burner from lighting.
