I'm in Wisconsin. I think ground hogs are protected here, unless they're doing damage. I have dropped a set of front wheels in groundhog holes before. But badger holes are bigger and can damage a tractor if you hit them. I was raking hay, many years ago, with a Case 400 with no power steering. I hit a groundhog hole with the front wheels that had been expanded by a coyote. Nearly broke my arms when the steering wheel spun out of my hands. Now which animal should I have shot? The groundhog who made the hole, the coyote for making it bigger so I wouldn't miss it, or the badger for laughing at me?
