Is it possible the oil was really low before the change? Any possibility it has the wrong dipstick and it is now overfull?
Some older, well worn engines do better keeping them 1 quart low. We have a forklift with a Continental 4 cyl. Fill it to the full mark, it will smoke and pour out the rear main. Let it seek it's own level, about a quart low, it will run that way for months, minimal smoke or leakage.
