: I have found an old farmall in a pasture that looks like it was there since 1940. I can't identify if it is a F-20 or a F30. It looks fairly complete with steel wheels. Does anyone know how to distinguish between a 20 and a 30 at a distance? : Also has anyone had any experience in rebuilding a 20 or 30 engine? Are parts available and such? What do you think it might be worth? It appears complete and is rust color. : Thanks, K.Ray The 2 easy ways to tell from a distance are: The f-30 has 2 bolts on each side holding the clutch housing to the frame, and the f-20 only has one.The f-20 has 6 bolts holding the wheel to a blank hub with a grease fitting in the middle where the f-30 has a removable hub with about a 2-1/2" nut holding it to the axle. the wheel is still held to the hub with 6 bolts. but if it has a big nut in the center it is an f-30. Another way to tell is by the pto lever. on an f-30 it is on the rh side sticking vertically out of the trans case. on an f-20 it is on the lh side sticking out hoizontally below the lh frame rail. An F-30 should be worth more than an f-20 because they only made about 30,000 F-30s campared to almost 150,000 f-20s. Understanably though, f-30s are a lot harder to find parts for.
