Mark that may be true is % but in actual taxes paid it doesn't work out. Poor guy makes and spends say 1500 a month. He pays say 700 for rent, no sales tax and 200 for utilities, taxed. Then he buys 400 worth of food, most states not taxed leaving 200. Then he buys 100 worth of clothing, again in some states not taxes. In the end he pays taxes on 300 dollars. The rich guy between eating out and paying for taxable meals and random spending say 3K a month. So he's still paying far more money in taxes than the poor guy. Heck when you say that about 32K people a year die od gun shot wounds in the US that sounds like a lot. When you say that less than 1/10th of 1% of Americans die each year from gun shot wounds it doesn't sound as bad. Don't care how you slice it. The rich pay far more in taxes.
