: I'm looking to buy a small (<20HP) etc Ken, there are two kinds of people... some eat breakfast and some do not. You might as well have asked what is better a Ford or a Chevy. All of the tractors you listed have merit. I favor Cub Cadet. For you, I would suggest one of the 1970 vintage machines built by IH prior to the MTD buyout. I suggest a 12 or 14 hp model such as 128, 129, 149. They are reasonably price, very dependable with Cast Iron Kohlers. The quick release system is a plus and attachments are easy to find. Because of age they do "break" but little things like tie rod ends, springs, clips, and pullies. Keep a small box handy. Priced at around $1,000 plus equipment.
