Unless it is a transplant someone has put in, or not a 67 Chevy, it should have had a Chevy engine, and most popular v8 Chevy in those would have indeed been the 283 or 327 (no 350 till 68, which replaced the 327, and 307 replaced 283 then). There were many 6 cyl vans, but sounds like it is indeed a v8. I cannot off had recall when they started with the "corporate" engine deal where they placed Olds, Pontiac, and Chevy in other brands, but pretty sure it it was much later. Could it be a GMC? Not sure what engines they put in the GMC vans.
