Thanks everyone for your comments on the above topic. My course of action is to set the rears to 64" center to center or 78" outside to outside. That gives me 6" from the outside of the tire to the corn row. The tires are 14" wide. Recall he will use it to rotary hoe.
My other neighbor cultivates 6 - 30" rows with a 4450 with 18.4 tires. If you figure the tire is 19 inches wide and the tire is centered in the row that only leaves 5.5 inches tire to row and they seem to manage well, even on really steep ground. So based on this example my 6" rather than 8" margin seemed OK.
I had mentioned the gentlemen that owns the 3010 will cultivate with horses. He tried cultivating with his horses last summer in 30" rows. He had to narrow the cultivator; he felt the horses did OK with the narrower rows.
I am a little concerned about packing the ground too close to the roots. How far do the roots spread out?
By the way, the fronts are just 6.5 inches wide so even without moving them they are still within the track of the rears. Front now is 65.75" center to center or 72.25" outside to outside.
Thanks for the input. I just thought I would get back with my direction. Paul

The year was about 1967 and my father found a good used Ford 601 tractor to use on the farm instead of "Bob", our old mule. Now my grandfather had had this mule since the mid 40's and he was getting some age on him. S
