Like I said that was the price on average. A fellow could go to the Livingston County offices and know right to the penny. Also I believe a few of those parcels contained some woodlands. So the approximately 8000 per acre was for every acre in a given tract. If you figured the woodlands as scrap land then I am sure the price gets much closer to the 11,000 dollars per acre. I think it was Harris-Wilcox that had the other sale as they are selling the equipment in a couple of weeks. That area is the high rent district in terms of New York agricultural land.
The prices of the 4455 and 4555 were still pretty good for the seller compared to what I have seen around these parts. They did not fall in the category of being around 3000 hours and put away every night and never been in the rain and so on. I guess the Landoll disc went under what it should have gone. I went to a sale last year and there was an approximately 27 foot Krause and that brought around 41,000 dollars if my memory is any good.
Nice area over that way and if money were no object I would not have minded farming there. There are lots of nice parts of New York but the Western Finger Lakes and Genesee regions hold a special appeal. It probably helped that once I got into college it seemed all the desirable women were from that area.

But no matter how good or bad auctions may be, we always seem to stay until the item we've come for or are interested in is on the block. I've been to some auctions near and far. I think the furthest has been the Two Cylinder 7 in the Amana Colonies last year. Lots of stuff, lots of people. I've also atten
