#1 - good quality bearing - just because the size crosses to the ball bearings Kubota used doesn't mean its the same quality #2 - oil seal - they had a few seal updates, if it loses its oil you will lose the bearings. I lost a seal on one side in winter, with clear Kubota UDT in the axle you don't see it in snow. Bearings lasted about 10-20 miles of road travel without the oil. #3 - clean out the bits, they can get into the axle tube sometime. One piece floating around will start taking chips out of bearings. We changed the fluid a few times after to get all the flecks of metal out.
Re carrying and driving, we do it all the time, I delivered 2 4x5 round bales a week almost a mile down the road plus a mile or two each time we feed. Also ran several years with a big snow plow hanging out of the front of the bucket all winter driving about 5-10 miles per storm on the road to get to all my driveways.
