Two summers ago, I shot 13 coons out of the loft in my barn, using my Grandpas Marlin.
Didn't put any holes in anything (except the coons), didn't miss...still a nice accurate rifle.
I will say I made an allowance for my trifocal eyes a few years ago with a fixed 4x scope, couldn't see the front sight, rear sight and what I was shooting at all at the same time anymore.
I had the problem because I kept feed in a gravity bed wagon, 3 tons at a whack, finally made a cover out of 2x4's and steel siding, use a boat winch and a couple pulleys to lift it off, no more free food, no more coons.
