That 3-4 inch would be good to start with. Once people get use to you carrying (if they even notice with everyone else already), you can take that bigger one and test the waters. First few times I pulled my pocket knife out in public people thought I was nuts. Now they come and ask to borrow it if they need a knife quick(since they know I have it and don't care who knows it).
