sickle bar

HELP!!! I have a 6' sickle bar on my Ford 2000 diesel tractor.The tractor has a 8 speed transmission,4 in high gear and 4 in low gear.My problem is when I cut weeds with my sickle bar it take twice as long as it should because the cut weeds keep jaming up my bar. I have all new guides and blades and I cut at 1700r.p.m. in low gear,approx. .8 M.P.H. Is there anything I can do to stop this from happening? PLEASE TELL ME!!!
