needing assistance deciphering serial number on my tractor and also how to tell which engine I have. First the serial question - on the serial stamp on the tractor the first line has "861" which is obviously the Tractor series model; next line has: a diamond emblem then "5056"; the third line is a dash followed by "15056" and then another dash. According to Tractor Data.com this would be either a 1957 or 1958 year but which one is correct??
Second question - the Ford Shop Manual for my series tractor says three engines were available for series 501-901; a 134 CI which was available in gas or LP; a 144 CI which says is diesel only; and then a 172 CI for gas, LP or diesel. Tractor Data.com lists three engine options for an 861 all 2.4 liter and either LP, gas or diesel. My engine is gas - but which CI engine do I have?? Thanks very much.
