Perfect is best! + or - .002 ofset and angular should run a long time if it's sized right. I'm not sure how well they work on engines because of the power pulses. Maybe someone else will have some experience. I always installed them on electric motors, where they were expected to run steady for 5 years. The best thing about them is you could change the elements in about 10 minutes! I used to inspect them on the run with a strobe light, when small cracks would show up it was time to schedule a change.
