Well today I was surprised. the weather was a bit warmer than forcast, and sap was running. We split into two teams, to gather. The snow was brutle on the guys on snowshoes, and at the end of the day they were all soaked to the waste from triping and falling, or just sloshing sap on themselves carrying it. We ended up gathering just under 1900 gals of sap. There was some ice in the buckets that we dumped so the sap should be better than 2% sugar. We had a couple of setbacks however. One of our 1000gal, storage tanks sprung a leak, and we had to flood one of the evaporators to empty the first load of sap (275gal,) dumped into it. Then the flue pan on that evaporator sprung a small leak. Geeese!! We will have to drain the flue pan down so I can soder the leak tomarrow. We got a thirty gal bucket under it for tonight. We also had some buckets that leaked and were replaced today and they will have to be repaired. Hopeing we get the problems worked out tomarrow. We are going to fire the evaporators tomarrow morning, once we get the leaky flue pan fixed. Loren, the Acg.
