This is a common problem with all of the older models what you need to do is to remove the shifter by removing the 6 or 8 bolts and pulling it out. Then either weld it your self or take it and get it welded. When you look at the under side of the shifter you will see that the weld that holds the shifter handle cup has come loose. You can still purchase the part however it is quite expensive and a good welder should be able to align it and re weld it. You should take out the spring pin and remove the spring with the rest of the assembly. This will ensure that the other parts are not effected during the welding process. After the welding then just reassemble and reinstall using a new gasket or use the old gasket if not torn with some permatex blue gasket goop. Hope this helps Jeff
