I just keep telling myself that the 8430 is cheap power. When it blows I'm not replacing it, though. Articulated tractors are just a money pit. Everything means splitting the machine. I think the 36 foot cultivator would cause the 4440 or the 7800 to do about what you are doing though, so I hope it lasts a good while longer. I don't need to be replacing any planetaries or anything.
Is it at the dealer? The one here has NEVER been close to their estimate. They won't charge by the book so it's a crap shoot. I always double the number they tell me and am often not surprised at the true outcome. When I picked it up he told me he let run for about 25 hours with the air conditioning on. I only hope I'm not paying for that. I don't think I will be, but it kind of depends on the mechanic you got stuck with.
I remember how excited you were when you picked up that honey. I hope you feel that again when she is back in the field in a few weeks. Maybe it won't need a repair for four more years. Then she will be back in the black!
May your repair bills be low and your diesel tank be high.

How did I get this way? I came from the suburbs and own a small horse farm in rural Loudoun County, Virginia. You can call me a "weekend farmer." The local farmers do. Does it bother me? No. I am just happy to have their friendship. At least the word "farmer" is in my title. But what is the attraction? How can I explain the sensation and exhilaration I feel when I turn the key and hear the engine come to life (most
