: Why do some people paint the grill screens on JD's Yellow?? More character? Are some years suppose to be yellow?? Mine is all green I beleive. Was there 2 lights on an MT by the back tires or only one. How come they moved the lights from the front grill llike on an "M" to the back like on an "MT" Thanks....... All JD ag tractors from that era should have green grille screens. Only the industrial models had yellow screens, and then they were painted ALL yellow, so that makes sense. Of course, it's your tractor - paint it however you like. I painted the yellow stripes on the hood and nose piece simply because I like the way it looks (Awk! Blasphemy! Tractor Defiler!) The 'M' in any incantation can only support two headlights and one small red tailight. That's all the power the three brush gnereator can deliver. The standard 'M' configuration was one forward light on the left front and one rearward white light on the right fender, with the red tailight on the left fender. An alternate scheme had two forward white lights and no rearward white light. The 'MI' and 'MC' units generally were set up like the 'M' standard. The 'MT' came out later and was meant for two row work, so they put both white lights on the fenders. That way, the operator could align them for night cultivation work, or swivel one to the rear for plow work. An alternate scheme had one light mounted up front, like the standard 'M' did.
