: Just had the crank replaced in a Kohler 321. After : running 1.5 hours the rod bearing siezed. The shop that did : the work said it siezed because I was using 10W30 and not : plain 30 weight. : Are they handing me a line?? Mike, If the machine shop assembled your engine, and you know that you put the 10-30 oil in it before you cranked it up, I think they made a mistake. John mentioned several things that probably caused the failure. There are probably a million lawnmowers around the country running with 10-30 oil in them, and no telling how long since they had an oil change. I know 30w is best for most air cooled motors, but 10-30 wouldn't be the cause of such a quick failure. I hope the machine shop will stand behind their work. Good Luck, Mark
