High visibility vests would save more lives - but could you imagine a biker wannabe on a straight-out-the-showroom hog wearing one of those? According to some scientific study I read years ago, running with no mufflers adds virtually nothing to the overall hp of a motor compared to a good silencer system. It's all ego, plain and simple. But then I guess you have to pity people who are so insecure in their personal lives that they only feel worthwhile when people are paying attention to them when they are making a lot of noise. And isn't that a Christian trait - having sympathy for those less fortunate?
