: : : Several years ago the clutch stuck on my Super A. At that time I was able to free it up by pulling it a few feet with it in gear and with the clutch pedal depressed. Today I started it for the first time since the end of snow plowing season and the clutch is stuck. I have tried freeing it the same way as before with no luck. What causes a clutch to be fine, sitting month after month for years without sticking, then sticking in a period of 3 or 4 months ? I'm thinking of getting a buddy to try pulling me on some pavement with his one ton truck, any warnings? Is there a better way? I suppose I can always split the tractor. John : : Start the engine and let it reach operating : : temperature. Stop engine. Put tractor in : : 4th gear. Start engine and drive with clutch : : disengaged (pedal pushed down) until it comes : : free. Is there a netural safety switch? You : : will have to by pass it. : : Good luck. : This is the same plan I'd suggest to free up the clutch, but I'd also suggest that you hit the seperate brake pedals abruptly. The diff. gains speed to the moving wheel and will put a tolerable amount of torque to shake the clutch disc free. : The moisture condensing in the clutch housing is the cause of the problem, and the best solution is to part the tractor in a building where the temp. doesn't vary as much, and also start the tractor once a month and use it. : Milan >All good advice. To prevent a repeat, block clutch pedal in disengaged position while tractor is parked. Good luck.
